An Idea For Amember + Wordpress
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
I’ve been away for a while, but here’s an idea I’ll be toying with shortly, which I just shared in the Amember Pro forum.
1. There’s a wordpress plugin (Hide This) which allows unregistered users to read the post summary, but not the full content.
2. Each post will include a teaser, and maybe some useful content, in the summary, but the critical information will be in the main content.
3. People need to subscribe via Amember Pro to become full members and read the full post.
4. The teasers allow me to submit the blog URL and feed URL to the normal places, set up pings and social bookmarking each time I add a new post, and give the search engines something to work with; without giving away all my post.
Neat, eh?

I’m just in the process of building a paid membership site using WordPress and aMember.
It seems that the plugin you refer to above - HideThis - is no longer available.
Any other ideas as to getting teasers on the from page while still restricting the full article?
Thanks

Hi Patrick,
Ah, damn. I submitted some feedback on his latest post (dated early November) about the missing download, but a few people have added comments to other posts on the same thing, and there’s no response from the author.
Alas, I’ve not got my own copy to share….
And I don’t know of another plugin that does this (although I’ve not actually looked).
Sorry!
Regards,
Andy

Ah, I’ve got a solution: Go direct to
http://edwards.org/uploads/HideThis-v1.0.1.zip
And thanks to David for offering to send me his copy.
I’ve read the plugin, and it’s copyrighted, but there’s no mention of a GPL license, so I’m not going to upload it here. I’ll redress that if the situation changes.
Hope that helps,
Andy

Brilliant! Thanks Andrew, this is a lifesaver. This is one of those problems with Wordpress that I thought was going to be a major headache before I saw this post
A simple and elegant solution - thank heavens for the community.
Best regards,
Caroline
