1PDD: Product #1: The Toaster
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
No, I’ve not gotten into the kitchen appliance market.
“Toast popups” are the nickname for the desktop popups that appear when you’re using some software. For example, most instant messenger programs have a toast popup when one of your contacts comes online, or when you receive a new message. The toast consists of some nice-to-look-at box with the appropriate message in that slides up from the bottom-right corner of your screens, sits for a few seconds so that you can read it, and then slides back down out of site again.
I had one developed for the next version of Stay On Focus, which cost $200. (I’m not experienced at writing desktop software that uses existing Windows functionality intensively, so I outsourced it via Rentacoder). But there’s a market for it amongst developers writing software using AutoIt. Not a huge market, but hopefully enough to recoup my costs.
All I need to do is write up a sales page (although it will be a very technical one because of the market) and set up the sales process and download page. It should only take an hour or so, then I’ll start posting to the forum for AutoIt users.
There’s also a potential market for other scripting tools like AutoIt, but I’m not familiar with those, so I’m not going to spend a lot of time promoting to developers who are using other tools.
As I progress this, I’ll add comments to this post, rather than keep on creating new posts for simple updates.

OK. The salespage and sales process is set up. I’ve just started writing the very brief user manual.

Done and duster. User manual written. Download ready to go. And I’ve posted to the main thread about this type of issue.
I’ll let you know how it goes from here.
